orthotics are a device that can be inserted into the shoe to support, align, prevent and/or accommodate foot abnormalities and improve how the foot functions. When used in combination with appropriate footwear, orthotics can be helpful in addressing a number of foot and lower limb problems, including heel pain, arch pain and knee pain.
At The Disc Clinic, our Canadian Certified Pedorthist will assess your feet, lower leg and gait (how you walk). They can then educate you on your structure and mechanics and recommend if custom made orthotics and/or other devices or therapeutic interventions are appropriate to address your condition/complaint.
Custom orthotics can be made from a variety of different materials (soft to firm), depending on your foot structure, movement patterns and health conditions.
