The term chiropractic refers to "treatment by hand".
There are many ways that this can be done. Soft tissue therapies, manipulations and the use of different equipment are all within the scope of a Chiropractor. At The Disc Clinic, our Chiropractors are certified in the Cox Technique and utilizes a specialized treatment table. This approach has been shown, through current research, to decompress the spine and reduce pressure within the discs (the shock absorbers between the bones in the spine). This technique also loosens up the joints and muscles in the back.
Chiropractic treatment has been shown to be an excellent treatment option for relief of both back and neck pain (however it can also be effective in treating many other joint and soft tissue problems). Patients often leave feeling looser and with less pain. The initial treatments themselves can create some temporary soreness, but this usually resolves within a day or two.
Our Chiropractors also provides patients with some exercises to work on at home, to help with the long term progress of their condition.
